Marcus is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, with over 30 years’ experience. He has worked across a broad spectrum of construction types and procurement routes within sectors including commercial, education, healthcare, public, petrochemical and industrial – up to a value of almost £30 million.

Cost management and procurement strategy

Prior to joining Hookway in early 2013 Marcus worked for both Warrington Martin Morris and GSS Architecture. Whilst with GSS Architecture Marcus undertook the roles of Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor and CDM Co-ordinator (now Principal Designer) for almost 700 units of student accommodation with a construction value of circa £30 million for Oxford Brookes University.  He now heads up our Quantity Surveying division overseeing operations throughout the UK. He has particular expertise in procurement strategy,  cost planning and cost management on projects such as a high tech factory for a large aerospace client that required expert cost management to deal with almost 1,200 variations.

A keen advocate of collaborative working practices

Marcus is also a very keen advocate of collaborative working practices including sharing best practice and inspiring others to adopt new and better ways of working to deliver outstanding results. This skill was of particular value on a major industrial project recently completed and for which Hookway was shortlisted for the Constructing Excellence Integration and Collaborative Working award.
