Overview

Hookway has broad experience within the public sector having undertaken many projects throughout the country. Examples include sports halls, Multi-use games areas (MUGA), public park improvements and visitor centres to name a few. Each type of project will present unique challenges and Hookway understands the importance of addressing and managing these individual issues.

Projects within this sector often have funding obtained from various sources, such as Lottery, and Hookway is able to assist with funding applications and also the reporting often required as part of the funding agreement.

The financial sustainability and viability of such projects is often key and Hookway is able to offer invaluable advice at an early stage to assist with business case reports and viability due diligence.

Our Approach

Understanding the needs, budget and aspirations of public projects is key if the end result is to be a success from both a usability and financial sustainability viewpoint. Hookway always takes the time to fully understand what the requirements are from all viewpoints and then work collaboratively with all stakeholders to deliver the project.

Due to the nature of public projects it is often also essential that the necessary specialist teams are consulted at an early stage to ensure that the project budget is realistically set; the award winning collaborative ethos that drives our team of professional surveyors ensures that the end result is achievable on time and on budget.

As with all our projects the point of contact will be a Partner who’s many years of experience will drive the project to a successful conclusion and provide hours of enjoyment for all who use the facility.

Testimonial

“The whole project was entirely ‘self-sufficient’ as far as the school leaders were concerned, apart from pre-agreed meetings/decisions along the way, and the building was completed to a very high spec in a safe and efficient way. We would have no hesitation in recommending Hookway to other schools.”

“We had to prepare and construct additional facilities, within two terms, to accommodate a child with severe and profound needs. The initial task seemed totally overwhelming, however Hookway took on the role of project managing the nearly £100,000 extension and enabled school life to continue with very few changes. ”

“Tom Bishop led us through the two-year process with a calm and professional demeanour. His contribution to the project was central to the completion of the building on-time (during the pandemic) and the design outcomes have suited our teaching and performance needs completely. A highly successful design and architectural project.”

“Hookway came highly recommended and we are absolutely delighted with the project.”

“Our old sports hall has now been transformed into a multi-purpose performance space with a professional stage lighting and sound rig. What a transformation! Tom Bishop from Hookway listened very carefully to our requirements and then went about designing the new Norton Hill Arts Theatre. With cherry panelling and sound absorbent materials the main room has amazing acoustics, perfect for concerts and performances alike.”

“Hookway recently secured funding through CIF to install a new playground surface (MUGA) for our front playground to help improve the PE opportunities and safety aspects for the children. The children are over the moon about their new playground, and are already enjoying safer and more interesting playtime and sports lessons.”
