Construction Health & safety
Under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 the role of the CDM Co-ordinator (CDM-C) has been replaced by the ‘Principal Designer’ role. The Principal Designer must have an understanding of how health and safety is managed during the design process and must possess the skills to oversee and co-ordinate health and safety during the pre-construction phase and through any ongoing design. Hookway's highly experienced consultancy team provides comprehensive contract administration services and, in that capacity, can act as the Principal Designer for a very broad range of projects.
Under the CDM regulations the lead designer on a project might assume the role of Principal Designer. However, not every designer will feel that they have the relevant knowledge, training and experience to discharge these duties. This is where our previous experience as CDM Coordinators comes into play: we have developed an ‘Advisor to Principal Designer’ service to address this specific need. In this capacity we will ensure that all duties and obligations under CDM 2015 are properly fulfilled, whilst ensuring that creativity and design innovation remain unbridled.
