Welcome to Matt Beech, our newest recruit

Matt started his career 'on the tools' as a bricklayer and ran his own building business before becoming a qualified building surveyor.

Qualified surveyor with practical hand-on experience

While running his own design and build business Matt worked on residential building extensions and loft conversions for modern builds and homes that have been standing for hundreds of years. This helped him develop an in-depth knowledge of how buildings are constructed, what can go wrong and most importantly how to repair them. He also worked as a surveyor for Bristol City Council for a number of years before qualifying as a Building Surveyor and moving to Hookway.

Relishing the challenge

Matt says: “I’m enjoying the challenges my new role has presented. The company is incredibly busy so I hit the ground running. So far I’ve worked on projects ranging from residential property maintenance for vicarages to repairing and maintaining perimeter fencing and roofs for various school clients.

“I’m currently involved in delivering Condition Surveys for schools, which involves producing detailed maintenance reports to help schools prioritise, plan and implement critical repairs and refurbishment work.

“I've acquired knowledge and skill at every stage of my career and I’m looking forward to using both my practical building and surveyor skills in my new role to help Hookway clients.”
