Overview

Hookway have long involvement in the maintenance and improvement of historic buildings.

Projects range from stonework repairs and re-roofing of listed buildings to the complete improvement and upgrading of facilities. We work regularly in historic cities like Bath and central Bristol where a knowledge and understanding of the local built environment is essential for successful outcomes.

Our Approach

A sympathetic and understanding approach to projects on historic buildings is essential.

We have surveyors who are committed to maintaining and enhancing our heritage whilst not losing sight of the clients need for budgetary control and the practical needs of the 21st century. We aim to ensure buildings are functioning entities for their owners and users whatever their origin.

Testimonial

“Tom's advice and guidance, were as usual exemplary and he helped trouble-shoot any practical problems that arose to get the work completed on time and in budget. ”

“The whole project was entirely ‘self-sufficient’ as far as the school leaders were concerned, apart from pre-agreed meetings/decisions along the way, and the building was completed to a very high spec in a safe and efficient way. We would have no hesitation in recommending Hookway to other schools.”

“The new washroom facilities have significantly improved the internal environment and Hookway have been on-hand to efficiently project manage these works to our satisfaction.”

“Our old sports hall has now been transformed into a multi-purpose performance space with a professional stage lighting and sound rig. What a transformation! Tom Bishop from Hookway listened very carefully to our requirements and then went about designing the new Norton Hill Arts Theatre. With cherry panelling and sound absorbent materials the main room has amazing acoustics, perfect for concerts and performances alike.”

“Hookway recently secured funding through CIF to install a new playground surface (MUGA) for our front playground to help improve the PE opportunities and safety aspects for the children. The children are over the moon about their new playground, and are already enjoying safer and more interesting playtime and sports lessons.”

“Hookway has been vital in the process of applying for this funding. We handed them responsibility and they delivered a concise and detailed package of information which included everything required to submit to Salix. They made it easy and took it out of our hands. We can happily say that Hookway was crucial to us being successful and we look forward to working with them on the 2nd phase of application. ”
