Hookway believes that value engineering should be more than a simple cost reduction exercise. All elements and functions are continually reviewed as design progresses to highlight potential areas for consideration.

Options can generally be either a cost reduction (a less expensive product that may or may not be of similar quality to the originally specified), value added item (a higher quality item that brings additional advantages to the project), life cycle advantage (an item that has a better balance of capital cost and overall operational cost) and finally maintainability (items that incur a reduced overall maintenance cost).

Larger value or complex projects will often benefit from implementation of a structured value management strategy. The ultimate need and client brief are examined from a function based perspective to enable the various possible options to be reviewed and analysed to enable our clients to make informed decisions on the overall best value method of achieving their aims.

Testimonial

“This year we had two bids totalling over a one million pounds for Lawn Manor. Our new boilers and plant, and new roof projects have gone completely smoothly, safely and within budget.”

“The needs of the school were always at heart and I felt that I had a voice in the process. The two new classrooms are fantastic. They are light, airy and spacious, and the children love them. The children refer to them as the ‘Posh Wing’.”

“Hookway worked in close partnership with us and carefully managed a range of trades and contractors. Greg Smith, Hookway’s Surveyor, met with my team regularly and always acted upon any feedback shared; he cared passionately about the quality of the work and made sure that it was completed to an excellent standard.’”
